The most important insurance to have in Germany is PERSONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE (Haftpflichtversicherung).

This provides cover to you and your family in all walks of life. In a case of damaging another person/s belongings by accident - your personal liability should cover this. This insurance is also available for pets - which will cover you in case of damages caused due to your pet running over the road and causing an accident, or for that matter causing a biker to fall.

These policies are available for a one, two or three year term.
